What is an ‘IPAF Harness Inspection & User’ course?

Approved by IPAF, this is a one-day course delivered entirely in a classroom setting. Our expert instructors provide the essential knowledge to enable successful candidates to select, monitor, manage, and plan the correct use of harnesses and lanyards when working in a MEWP (Mobile Elevating Work Platform).

The course also covers the knowledge and practical application required for the statutory inspection of harnesses, lanyards, and associated ancillary PFPE (Personal Fall Protection Equipment) used in a MEWP.

What’s involved in the course?

  • Hierarchy of Personal Fall Protection Equipment (PFPE)

  • Know Your Equipment: Harness Systems

  • Anchor Points

  • Boom Platform Hazards: Stay Safe

  • Vertical Platform Hazards: Stay Safe

  • Pre-use Checks

  • Donning and Doffing

  • Cleaning and Storage

  • Introduction to Statutory Inspections

  • Types of Detailed Inspections

  • Longevity and Obsolescence

  • Common Types of Damage and Criteria for Failure

  • Inspection Report

  • Course Summary

How long does the certificate last?

  • 5 years

Don’t need the ‘Inspection’ part?

We also offer an alternative course: IPAF Harness Awareness & User. This half-day course focuses solely on the following topics:
