Manual Handling With ACT

It’s the same with most safety training; people assume it’s boring. And when you think of Manual Handling training, you probably picture someone telling you how to lift a box safely. At ACT, it’s a little different. Here’s why.

Manual Handling Training | Inverness

What makes our course different?

In short, we make it engaging. Our Manual Handling training is a half-day course, split evenly between theory and practical learning.

Once the theory is complete, our instructor, Chris Cameron, will put you to work: think weights, chains, and even tree trunks.

Why do we do this?

At ACT – Avery Cameron Training, we make our courses as informative and engaging as possible. Whether it’s Street Works or Fire Warden training, our goal is to keep you engaged and learning. In the case of Manual Handling and the photographs shown, our instructor was delivering training to a group from Forestry and Land Scotland.

As well as covering all the required content, we tailor each course to make it relevant to the people in the room. So, if you work in forestry, don’t be surprised if you find some heavy branches in the room with you.

Whatever your profession, our Manual Handling course will cover:

  • Health & Safety Legislation

  • Common injuries and long term effects of poor manual handling

  • Assessing lifts using Manual handling assessment charts

  • Controlling lifts

  • Use of lifting aids

  • Practical assessment

The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) highlights the importance of Manual Handling in the workplace and the role of effective training. According to the HSE, the content of any training in good handling techniques should be tailored to the specific tasks workers carry out, something we make sure to put into practice. Read more about HSE & Manual Handling here.
