Our Dingwall-based centre and instructors can now offer EUSR (Energy & Utility Skills Register) courses throughout the Highlands and Islands:

• EUSR Utility Excavations Categories 1 & 2

• EUSR Utility Excavations – Category 1: Locate Utility Services (HSG47)

• EUSR Utility Excavations – Category 2: Implement Safe Excavation Practices

Utility Excavations

The Utility Excavations scheme is designed for individuals working in and around excavations within the energy and utilities sectors.

It primarily focuses on excavation safety training for Temporary Works, commonly carried out on highways, construction sites, and open fields.

The training is suitable for excavator operators as well as those supervising excavation activities. (EUSR: Utility Excavations)

EUSR Course Breakdown:

• EUSR Utility Excavations - Category 1: Locate Utility Services (HSG47) is a training and assessment program designed for candidates carrying out excavation work to safely locate, mark, and avoid underground utility services using recognised and approved detection methods.  

• EUSR Utility Excavations - Category 2: Implement Safe (Digging) Excavating Practices covers the minimum training and assessment required for those working to safely excavate and maintain holes and trenches using both hand tools and hand-held power tools.

• EUSR Utility Excavations Cat 1 & 2 is a two day course which combines EUSR Utility Excavations - Category 1: Locate Utility Services (HSG47) and EUSR Utility Excavations - Category 2: Implement Safe (Digging) Excavating Practices
