Manual Handling Training in Inverness
Here at ACT, we recognise that lifting and moving everyday objects can lead to injury when it is not carried out correctly. Poor manual handling can cause both immediate injuries and longer-term health problems, particularly for people who regularly lift, carry, push or move items as part of their work.
This training is designed to benefit anyone who is required to physically handle objects during their working day, this could include people working in construction, warehouses, hospitality, retail and many other practical roles.
What are the biggest risks?
Manual handling injuries don't only occur through heavy lifting, repeated movements or simply handling an awkward load in the wrong way can also, over time, lead to problems with the back, shoulders, arms and other joints.
There is also no single “safe” lifting weight, as the level of risk depends on the person, the task and the load itself. The Health and Safety Executive’s manual handling guidance explains the main risks and how they can be reduced.
What Is Covered in Our Course?
Our half-day Manual Handling Training course combines classroom-based theory with practical training. It is designed to help delegates handle everyday objects safely and reduce the risk of injury.
The course covers:
Health and safety legislation
Common injuries and the long-term effects of poor manual handling
Assessing lifts using manual handling assessment charts
Controlling lifts
Using lifting aids
A practical assessment
By combining theory with practical learning, the course helps delegates understand the risks involved and how to approach lifting tasks more safely. If you would like the full specification, you can find it here.
Who Would Benefit from Manual Handling Training?
The course is suitable for anyone who is required to physically handle objects as part of their day-to-day work.
