This Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid (RQF) course gives learners the skills needed to provide first aid in challenging outdoor environments where emergency services may be several hours away.

The course is suitable for adults who lead or take part in higher-risk outdoor activities. This includes outdoor activity leaders and those involved in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

ACT delivers Outdoor First Aid training from our Dingwall training centre and at customer locations across the Highlands, Inverness, Aberdeen, Fort William and throughout Scotland.

During the 2 day course, learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of outdoor first aid situations.

Course Content

  • Roles and responsibilities of a first aider in an outdoor environment

  • Administering first aid and managing multiple casualties outdoors

  • Stabilising and insulating casualties and providing shelter

  • Extremes of temperature Fractures, head and spinal injuries

  • Drowning casualties

  • Different types of burns and scalds

  • Secondary survey, medical conditions

  • Poisoning and venomous bites

  • Catastrophic bleeding

  • Summoning appropriate help from emergency or rescue services

At Avery Cameron Training, we run Outdoor First Aid courses in Dingwall, just 15 minutes North of Inverness. We can also run these courses on site in any location across Scotland.
